Dr. Arlene Schmid is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy and recently completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the VA in the fall of 2007. Dr. Schmid will be returning to the VA in 2008 with a four-year funded study to examine social participation after stroke. Prior to this position she was at the University of Florida working as a research assistant and completing her PhD. She has five years of clinical experience in varying populations. She is responsible for teaching the Introduction to Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science class, pieces of the Occupations of Adolescents and Young Adults and Occupations of Adults and Older Adults.
Education
Dr. Schmid received her PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Florida, and a dual BS/MS in Occupational Therapy from D'Youville College in Buffalo, NY.
Scholarly Work
Dr. Schmid's scholarly work includes numerous local, national, and international presentations. She also has manuscripts in preparation. She is a member of state and national associations.
Awards
Dr. Schmid was awarded the 2007 School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences' Excellence in Research Award.
