Janet Stout Everly received her BS in Occupational Therapy from Indiana University in Indianapolis, her M.S. in OT from University of Indianapolis and her EdD from Indiana University School of Education, Higher Education and Student Affairs Department.
From 1986 through 1998, Professor Everly served as an educator/clinician, an assistant professor and then an associate professor in the Occupational Therapy Program at Indiana University, Indianapolis. During that time, she received several awards for excellence in teaching. She has recently returned to serve as Associate Professor of Clinical Occupational Therapy in the newly opened Masters Program in the Department of Occupational Therapy.
Clinical Interests
Everly has specialized in pediatrics in her clinical work and private practice. Her clinical background includes work at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, work in the public schools, pediatric home care and private practice. She has special interest in the evaluation and treatment of sensory processing disorders, including auditory processing disorders.
She has been certified in pediatrics by the American Occupational Therapy Association and in administration and interpretation of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests by Sensory Integration International.
Presentations and Publications
Everly had made numerous presentations at national and international health care conferences, as well as for local health care providers and community groups. She received the "Community Connection Award" from the American Occupational Therapy Association for her work in safe transportation for children with special needs.
She has published in numerous journals including the American Journal of Occupational Therapy, Archives of Pediatric Adolescent Medicine, Contemporary Pediatrics, Journal of Neuroscience Nursing, Infants and Young Children, Occupational Therapy in Health Care, Orthopaedic Nursing, and Pediatrics.
